A great first day!

The first day was great! What a relief that the regular customers have all made the short trip up the escalators and found us. We've had a really positive reaction from everybody.

The shop looks better than I was expecting to be honest; as we tweek, tidy and organise in the next few weeks things will come together even more, so we do hope customers old and new will pop in and take a look - as always no purchase is necessary and we won't ever hassle you!!

Here are the pics i promised showing the final stocking up of the shop on Monday and how we looked as we opened on Tuesday morning (forgive the space where the illuminated sign is due to go later this week though)

We did it!!!!!!

YES WE HAVE DONE IT - five of us working our socks off for two days over the Bank Holiday and the new shop is actually ready for opening at 9am tomorrow.

We hope you'll come and see us soon and "share our journey" with us as we fine-tune the shop over the next few months.

I have left my camera at the shop - too tired to think straight! - but I'll upload the latest pics for you to see in the next day or two.

Our new shop is taking shape...

Well we've had the keys for a few days and are totally worn out but the shop is starting to take shape now. We've cleaned it top to bottom and boy did it need cleaning!!

Another half day of structural stuff and then we'll begin with the stock and displays. Just a reminder though that the old shop is still open and trading. It will only be closed Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday whilst we move all the fixtures and spinners and the cards themselves from the old shop to the new shop.

Here are some pics of the empty shop as it started to come together - and also one of Gilly hard at it beavering away at the painting!

An overdue update!

Well it's May 19th and my last post was back at Christmas and we have been busy bees at Green Ginger!

First of all, in January we took over the nearby sweet shop which had recently closed down. We renamed it Green Ginger Sweets and have been experimenting with lots of new lines which fit with the Green Ginger style.  For example we now have boxes of fudge, shortbread and the like with scenes of Shrewsbury on the box. Another example is the Welsh dragon droppings - actually chocolates of course but a great gift to take back for a young person.

The latest big news is that we are now on the move into a bigger, better located shop. Not far away, just one floor up from where we are now in the Pride Hill Centre, Shrewsbury. We'll relocate both shops into this bigger shop, the space is the same as the two shops plus another third as much again, so lots of room to grow in the coming years! We'll be between Peakocks and Shoe Zone, just by Next and New Look so we really feel quite proud to be finally up there with the big boys.

This gets us out of the way of the coming demolition work in the centre, the first phase of the £150m redevelopment of the Pride Hill centre, which will be taking place in the coming years. Eventually the likes of Debenhams will be moving into the new shops (they already signed up!) but that will take a few years to get fully completed. There will be a glass domed roof and two levels of new malls linking Pride Hill Centre and Darwin Centre together. All this is on its way and we'll be very well located for it we feel.

The move to the new shop takes place over the Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday at the end of May, so we'll be shut for those two days. My wonderful loyal hard working beautiful kind staff will all be there helping with the move, so a great big Thank You in advance to Sarah and Julie from Gilly and myself. We really hope you'll come and see us in our new home from Tuesday 28th May onwards.

Finally I thought this would be a good time to put up some final photos of the present card and sweet shops, so here they are:
